Midday to midnight sewing.

Yesterday was an extravaganza of sewing activity for me.
Karen from Somerset Patchwork has had several 12 hour sewing marathons, I decided I needed to try one.  So from midday until midnight yesterday, sew I did.  Twelve hours seems like such a long time, but went very quickly once you get sewing.  Fifteen other ladies and myself sewed up a storm.
I had kitted up 12 blocks from a sew-along with Pam Buda, and took several other projects with me.  It wouldn't do to run out of something to sew!  (I think I had enough for a 2 week retreat stay!)

I did think these blocks wouldn't take that long, but time went very quickly.  I left the sewing of all the blocks together for today, that part did go quickly.  As you can see, I've used 2 different pink setting fabrics.  Miscalculation on the amount of pink needed, luckily I had another on the shelf.

This centre from Summer School last January is coming along.  I worked on sewing the corners into place.  Would love to have this quilt finished for this coming January's classes.  Once the corners are in place, the large borders will go together very quickly.  I'm now trying to decide how to quilt it.  Handquilting is definately off the list- too many seams.  Perhaps Baptist Fans or Clamshells on my machine, it's not a big quilt.  Any ideas?

  1. Yay finished, little quilt is so darn cute...not long to go now on hexie quilt, you'll have it finished for Summer School...no ideas of my own, I haven't got past the thread I'm going to use, but I do like both of your ideas for the quilting pattern...

  2. The hexies are gorgeous and I really like the darker diamonds/triangles around the flowers. Thanks for joining HeLP!

  3. The diamonds and triangles around the hexagon flowers look really good. I haven't seen that done before; it gives the quilt a nice individuality.
